Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced its new Midnight Black and Cosmic Red editions of the PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller, and they’ll be out in the markets by June.
Until now, We only had the option of the original PlayStation 5 DualSense controller in a black-and-white color scheme which matches the color scheme of PS5, so the new color options are certainly great to have as PlayStation 5 has removable side plates, so, there’s a possibility that Sony could also release color options for side plates to match these controllers.
The new black DualSense controller “features two subtly different shades of black with light grey detailing to reflect how we view space through the night sky,” while the red version is “inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos,” said Isabelle Tomatis, senior director of PSVR, esports, peripherals marketing, and licensing at SIE, in a PlayStation Blog post. Both controllers feature “a subtle blue hue, that produces unique shades of red and black,” designer Satoshi Aoyagi said.
The two new color schemes should be available to purchase sometime next month (Exact release dates may vary by region).
The Midnight Black color scheme will cost $69.99, the same as the standard DualSense controller and the Cosmic Red Edition costing a little more at $74.99. Both new Colors of the controllers look stunning and are completely functionally identical to the classic white PS5 DualSense controller.
As Sony says, “Play Has No Limits” Except, of course, the supply limit of the PS5s.
